A gallery of images showcasing my new apartment at Legiendamm 10 in Mitte, Berlin.
- The bathroom, now fully populated.
- The white bookcase on the left is what I was moving when I broke my toe.
- I have a pseudo walk-in closet thanks to this clothes rack.
- This is what you see when you walk in. The kitchen is just to the left in front of the coat tree. Straight ahead is the living room. To the left down the hall is the bathroom and bedroom.
- Zoey on her new spot. It’s really warm there…I think radiator pipes go under the floor at this location.
- When I do laundry, the drying rack goes here.
- A mere two days after the snow started, the kids are on the Engelbecken playing ice hockey.
- When walking into the Living Room, this is what you see.
- Filling up all the cubby holes. Yes, I’m a geek.
- More geekness: Tron Lightcycles at the top of my bookcase.
- Geekiness continues: Tron Kubricks.
- Turning slightly to the left, you can now see the rest.
- Standing behind the studio desk facing towards the main desk.
- From “my spot” on the couch, I can see the TV and out over the Engelbecken.
- The view from the Living Room on a rare sunny morning.
- From the TV towards the couch and desk.
- The main desk.
- The studio desk (currently set up for work).
- Also a nice view out from the main desk.
- Walking up from Waldemarstraße, my building is on the left.
- Here’s my building–my apartment is the angled window second from the top on the right.
- The kitchen from the entrance. The fridge and freezer are the two tall cabinet-looking doors on the right side of the image.
- Further down the kitchen. The table and chairs on the left were included (along with all the other homey details). The glass doors lead out to the terrace.
- The kitchen seen from the terrace doors.
- NICE!
- Even nicer!
- Glass-top stove for easy cleaning.
- That cabinet thingy on the wall…I guess tons of shot glasses go there?
- Looking down the hallway (you can see the bathroom at the very left). The door in the middle of the image leads to my walk-in closet.
- The living room from its entrance.
- From the left corner…
- Panning to the right…
- The center door opens up and there’s a railing right there so you can stand and admire the view.
- The view…at night. That big black area is actually the “Angel Pool.”
- This thing came with the place, too. Doesn’t quite fit my chosen decor, but it’s away in the hallway rather than the living room or bedroom.
- One of the closets.
- The walk-in closet. The metal shelf unit was included.
- The bathroom is at the end of the hall and the bedroom is the doorway on the left.
- The bathroom from its entrance.
- This multi-shower thing is awesome!
- There’s also a huge towel heater/radiator in the bathroom, too!
- The bedroom. The bed was included, as was the comforter. No, I didn’t choose that pattern.
- Another angle.
- Zoey’s room off the kitchen…her litter box and food will go here.
- St. Michael Kirche as seen from Waldemarstraße.
- It just fits right next to the toilet. Now I have an armrest when I’m doing my business.

Chad, it really looks nice! I’m very impressed with the kitchen–not your typical European place at all! The bed looks queen sized. Is it? Or is it bigger? Are you going to need to get dishes, and all of the other kitchen equipment one needs, or is it there too?
This is a big step up from the little apartment and seems a great deal better than your Whittier place. Well done!

You’re right–this isn’t your typical European place at all. That may be because it’s a fairly new building as opposed to the 100-year-old places that make up most of the city. It’s actually more American, I would say, in comparison. Maybe that’s why I like it.
The kitchen has dishes and silverware and even some utensils (knives, can openers, etc.) but I will still need to get glasses, spoons, spatulas, and other large kitchen tools. The silverware doesn’t match, but I haven’t even tried to sort them to see if I have 4 complete matching sets of one style. But it at least means I can postpone that purchase for a little bit if needed. I think there are two different styles of plates, too, but I’m pretty sure there are at least 4 of each style which is cool. I want to get an electric kettle, maybe a toaster, and maybe even a microwave. They’ve actually got these nice combination microwave/convection ovens that are quite affordable…that might be a nice solution to cover me until I sort out what to do with the oven.
The bed feels larger than queen-sized, but that could be due to the fact that I haven’t slept on anything larger than a double bed in years. I’m pretty sure the fitted sheet I got (which fits perfectly) was 180cm x 200cm which, according to a website I found, is called a “Extragroß UK (Super King)”. That makes it wider than a US Queen but shorter than a US California King.
New furniture looks great, dude. And your view is amazing on a clear day! Can’t wait to see it in person.
